Stonegate PTO Board Members

Arooj Ahmad, President

Stonegate has a solid reputation in West Sacramento for having a highly involved and active parent/caregiver community. My intention is to uphold and strengthen this legacy.

JR Springer, Vice President

I’m the father of two students at Stonegate Elementary School. I’ve volunteered in the classroom and on field trips over the years and have been loosely involved with the PTO for a long time. I’m excited about the energy and enthusiasm that the board has brought since students have returned to school, and I look forward to expanding my involvement.

Menisha Huduca, Treasurer

I have two children at Stonegate, 2nd grade and Kindergarten. I strongly believe that being involved helps strengthen the school and community we live in. Parental involvement in education leads to greater student success and increased confidence. I'm committed to supporting the students' education experience at Stonegate through academic and enrichment activities and providing volunteer and financial support.

Mieko Mendenhall, Secretary

My name is Mieko Mendenhall and I am both a teacher and parent here at Stonegate.  I have been teaching for the past 30+ years.  I started at UCDavis teaching classes as well as being the assistant softball coach.  I spent 7 years there and then went back to school to get my teaching credential.  I worked in Woodland at Freeman elementary, Woodland High School and eventually spent about 15 years at Lee Middle School before making the jump to Washington Unified.  I made the move in 2017 because my youngest was starting kindergarten.  I wanted to keep him at his home school (as opposed to taking him to woodland with me and attending school) and a job opportunity opened up here at stonegate.  It was a perfect situation.  This is my 8th year here at Stonegate and I absolutely love it.  I love being involved, making an impact on kids and families.  I truly believe that our PTO cares deeply about students and staff and I want to help and be a part of that.

Megan Sheffield, Communications Specialist

I am a proud Stonegate Lion parent to two Stonegate students!  We have lived in West Sacramento for 14 years, but recently came to Stonegate in 2022.  As a Public Health professional and lecturer, I know that communication is crucial to creating shared understanding and community.  I am honored to join the Stonegate PTO as the Communications Specialist and I look forward to building upon the programs that exist while adding new ideas and broader parent participation.

Aisha Griffin, Fundraising Chair

I am a mother of two current students at Stonegate elementary Azaria Horton grade 7 and Alanna Horton grade 4 . This is their third year here and this year I’m going to be more active at the school. I am an artist and I own my own mobile nail care business.  I have an established garden which I’m turning into a community garden this year here in west Sacramento. If you have seen me around town it was either at the rec center or at the nugget. My twin sister lives here in West sac. She is the reason why I moved here. It’s a great community and I’m happy to be a part of it.

Ally Evans Membership & Volunteers Coordinator

My name is Ally Evans. I am the mother of four children.  My youngest, Ruby, attends Stonegate Elementary, and she is in the fifth grade. You may know me, and most of your children probably know me, as I've been a campus aid, noon-duty sub, as well as a crossing guard.

Before I was an employee at Stonegate, I was a preschool teacher as well as a religious school teacher for many years. I was also a Girl Scout leader in Los Angeles, as well as a volunteer at the VA hospital.  I really enjoy being a part of Stonegate, both as a parent and as an employee. I take my role in serving the community very seriously, and I look forward to serving the PTA as a membership chair, with the goal of helping more parents get involved with the PTA.
